Journaling, Oracle Cards & Mother Nature | How I Gently Reset My Soul This Weekend

I’ve got to admit it… by Friday evening, after a really busy week at work, I was feeling a little burnt out, to say the least. It was nothing more than a mixture of working late into the evenings, full days & hormones.

But by Sunday evening, I genuinely felt the cloud lift and a blanket of calm wrap around my shoulders. That feeling when your socks are all snuggly, your mind is clear & you feel nourished. Sometimes, just being in your own home feels like heaven.

When I feel this way, I have a little go-to checklist of self-care goodies that take minimal effort but always help me get back on track. And this morning, I felt called to share them with you too - should you ever feel the same.

Friday evening after finishing my desk job, I wandered into the woods. The kind of wander where you don’t really know where your feet are taking you. I went along with my dear friend, we found a bench, talked & put the world to rights as the sun was setting. It was such a precious moment knowing that the clocks were going back the next evening, it felt like the last chance to capture that golden, liminal light after work together.

On Saturday evening I had the most blissful bath before bed. Nothing fancy. Just good old Radox and the methodical rhythm of shaving my legs! Honestly, I don’t think there’s a nicer feeling than slipping into bed with your favourite moisturiser from head to toe.

On Sunday morning I spent an hour with my junk journal. This beautiful yellow sunshine notebook has replaced my Moon Diary recently. I’d been feeling the pressure of writing night after night - tracking this and that - and found my words becoming quite negative some evenings.

This junk journal has given me permission to be creative again. This weekend, I journaled about our little trip to Oslo this time last year and an oracle card pull that really resonated with my heart. I even allowed myself to gently stick the oracle cards into the journal with washi tape! (Don’t worry… it doesn’t ruin the cards, and I can pop them back into the deck anytime!) But, including them in my journal helps me connect more deeply to their message and truly feel the calmness and clarity they bring.

By Sunday evening I had made a slow-cooked, nourishing one-pot chilli. The same recipe my mum used to make, with her handwriting still scrawled all over the page & dinners gone by splashed on there too.

I’m writing this to remind you that self-care comes in many forms.

You don’t have to have the perfect quiet space or a meditation cushion.

Sometimes meditating can just feel like too much.

You don’t always need to throw yourself into a fierce Vinyasa flow or even have the energy to exercise.

These offerings are simply small, gentle moments of kindness.

Pockets of peace.

I’m deeply grateful I had the time to catch my breath this weekend.

So, in short… the world will always feel a little brighter if you can:

✨ Gently move your body

✨ Soak your soul in the bath

✨ Clear your mind with journaling

✨ Nourish your tummy

Let me know about your self-care practices, my loves.

And if you’re looking for a place to start, why not try my free 15-Minute Deep Peace Meditation - gentle sound healing for busy souls seeking deep rest.

This is your permission to take a moment, pause the world, and come back to yourself.

Take good care,

Hannah xxx
